He was born in Gaza in the year 767, the same year that Imam Abu Hanîfa passed away. His genealogy is linked to the Messenger of Allah through his ancestor ‘Abdulmanaf, and his mother is none other than the granddaughter of the sister of Fâtima bint ‘Asd, the mother of ‘Alî ibn abi Tâlib. He spent his childhood in Mecca and completed the learning of the Qur’an at the age of 7.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eExceling in the Arabic language and in Fiqh, he met Imam Mâlik in Medina and became his student for nine years. After the latter's death, he returned to Mecca and was a judge in Yemen for a time before settling in Baghdad where he taught the greatest scholars of the time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFinally, he ended his days in Cairo, dedicating himself to science and teaching it, and he died in the year 820.
