Born in 206H/821 AD in Nishapur (Iran), Abû al-Husayn Muslim Ibn al-Hajjâj dedicated his life to the study and transmission of hadiths. A student of great masters such as Al-Bukhârî and Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, he spent fifteen years compiling his Sahîh, rigorously selecting his sources from 300,000 hadiths. He passed away in 261H at the age of 55.
