The first thing that someone affected by a disease caused by witchcraft or the evil eye needs, is to turn to Allah, exalted and Elevated be He, and seek refuge with Him. Indeed, it is from Allah [The Mighty], that help, success, the reform of all affairs, and preservation come; in His Hand are all affairs, as well as the keys of the heavens and the earth.
Then, it is legislated for the one who is tested by this to make the lawful causes to protect and heal themselves from all misfortunes and diseases, by following the legislated ways of protection against witchcraft, the evil eye, and envy.
This subject was detailed by Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim [May Allah have mercy on him], in a very beneficial way in his excellent work Badā’i' al-fawā’id, in a way that is not found in anyone else. In it, he mentions ten legislated causes that are recommended for the one who is tested by something that is part of witchcraft or the evil eye to perform, so that Allah [The Mighty], may preserve him and rid him of their evil. In this letter, I have contented myself with clarifying these ten causes, showing their purpose in a summarized way, so that their benefit may be spread, especially since the evil of witchcraft and the evil eye is spreading among people, and we need to know the causes that allow us to save ourselves from these evils.
